ALERT – BEACH HUT FRAUD – 22nd March 2026

Please could all beach hut owners, and potential owners, of beach huts in the Tankerton area be aware of a scam that could have claimed a second victim into parting with cash for a “ghost” beach hut seemingly available to buy via eBay, at a low price.  Luckily, the potential buyer thought to contact the Council first to check if the sale was genuine, and that the “owner” was all he or she claimed to be.  Sadly, this was the second time in recent months that this has happened, and the scammers may well try again.  Padlocks are being broken off beach huts, so that a potential buyer is then invited to view a hut by themselves.

ALWAYS CONTACT CANTERBURY CITY COUNCIL (01227 266719) OR OURSELVES (pluminthebeachhut@talktalk.net) so that we can make some basic checks on genuine ownership.  BUYER BEWARE!

The timber cladding is insulated to help maintain cool in the summer and warmth in the winter. It features a full-width front porch with expanded viewing area by the front steps. We have spent many summers swimming and relaxing here but have moved away now and want it to be fully enjoyed.
